Byzantium’s ‘Geopolitics of Christianity’: Case of Kartli
The role of Christianity in Roman world has been a widely discussed subject. Scholars however do not pay attention to how the new religion was used by the Roman and later Byzantine emperors to defend their frontiers against powerful enemies coming from the Eurasian steppes of the East. The case of Kartli will be shown as a good example that Christianization in most instances was not an accidental process, but rather a purposeful policy led by the imperial authorities in Constantinople.

Newly Discovered Church in Historical Imiertao (South-Western Georgia)
The article deals with the newly revealed medieval church on the territory of Turkey, in the historic province of Imiertao. Its alleged reconstruction and stylistic analysis has been done, based on which it is perceived as 10th century triconch (triple apsis) type church.

Achilles’ Double ‘Greeting’ – “Iliad” 9.198/204
At 9.198 of the “Iliad”, Achilles greets, perhaps, only three ambassadors, or his friends, in the dual; however, at 9.204 the same greeting is repeated in the plural. In the process of interpretation of the issue several questions arose. In order to answer these questions, there is a need to reevaluate the whole embassy scene, but, again, from the Unitarian standpoint.

Hence, the deconstruction of the classical literary text, one of the most important characteristics of post-modern aesthetics, becomes apparent in Mutsali.

Ideology and Strategy of Translation (Comparative Analysis of the Georgian Translations of the Works by Emily Dickinson and Sylvia Plath in the Soviet and Post-Soviet Era)
The present paper addresses the question of how translation strategy can be determined by the country's political situation. During the Soviet period while translating Emily Dickinson’s and Sylvia Plath’s poetry, the translators used the traditional poetic taste, whereas in the post-Soviet period, this situation has radically changed.
