Cultural and Trade Relations in Central Transcaucasia

The settlement and necropolis of Grakliani Hill are located in Georgia, on the territory of the village Igoeti and Samtavisi. The monuments found there belong to different periods: 1.Paleolith; 2.Eneolite; 3.Early Bronze Age; 4.Late Bronze-Early Iron Age; 5.Age of Developed Iron (8-7 centuries BC; 6. 6th century BC; 7.5th-4th centuries BC; 8. 4th-3rd centuries BC; 9. 3rd-2nd centuries; 10. 2nd - 1st  centuries BC.

The problem of Absurd in Literary Grotesque

"Absurd literature" has put different intonation into contemporary literary grotesque. It is the case when grotesque is merged not with satire but with absurdity. In this paper grotesque is regarded on the example of the 20-th century literature as a special means of artistic conventionality.

Tbilisi Dialect (history and the present)

This paper deals with speech peculiarities of the Georgian capital city (Tbilisi). It is noted that the question of treating the Tbilisi speech in its totality as one Tbilisi dialect or capital's social strata (social dialects) has not yet been thought about. This paper aims at giving special qualification to urban speech.

Adyghe Variants of the Amirani Epic

The epic of "Amirani" known from the name of the enchained giant is presented in the Adyghe folklore only as an episode. Amongst similar legends rendered by the North Caucasian people the closest in plot structure are Kabardian variants which are comparatively more extensive. In the Adyghe folklore from the "Amiraniani" only the motif of enchaining to the rock is preserved. The name of the hero, the reason for punishment and many other important episodes are unknown.

Problem of Expression of Plural in relation to Complex Sentence of One Type (Which one or which ones?)

This study concerns the depiction of plurality in subordinating conjunction ("which") in Modern Georgian language. For the purpose of bringing the norm in order, it seems reasonable to take into account grammatical form of that member of the sentence which the conjunction refers to and syntactical relation of the same member with basic coordinates - verb-predicates from the viewpoint of the category of number.

The paper presents codicological and textual analysis of the text of Matthew's Gospel from the Four Gospels of the 11th-century manuscript (Ath.62) on the basis of which its relation to the other known editions of the Georgian translation of the Gospels has been established.

Beginning of the Migration of Mountaineers in the Western Georgia at the turn of the millennia

In this paper we consider significant accounts given by Strabo and other historians who are either unfamiliar or in any case, do not mention the Abkhazian-Adigeian tribes on the territory of the western Georgia and the data by those historians (Plinius and Arrian) who mention Abkhazian-Adigeian tribes on the territory of the western Georgia for the first time. We also discuss the reasons for migration of different highland tribes - the Abasgi, the Apsioloi, the Lazi, the Sani.
