Vakhtang Imnaishvili

Born 1939. Graduate the Philological Faculty of Tbilisi State University (1966). Post-graduate course under the leadership of Akaki Shanidze (1966-1969). Defend candidate dissertation ("Composites in Old Georgian") and take academic degree of candidate of philological sciences (1970). PhD dissertation entitled "The Lives of Fathers. Georgian Manuscript of British Museum of the 11^th century" (1977).

Published 5 monographs and about 150 scholarly works.

Visiting Professor at the Universities of Vienne, Bern and Frankfort on the Main.

Major research interests: old and new Georgian language, old Georgian manuscripts, issues of the Georgian orthography.
