Candidate dissertation (“Pragmonims in Georgian”) awarded degree of candidate of philological sciences (1993), doctor of philological sciences (“Language situation in Georgia and issues of functioning of Georgian language”) (2003). Full member of New York Academy of Sciences. Individual member of the American Centre of study ethnopolitical conflicts “Language politics and language planning international consortium”. Published 3 monographs and over 150 scholarly works. Major Research interests: Modern Georgian language, issues of normalization of literary language, sociolinguistics.
